About Basilica of Our Lady of Tongre
The Basilica of Our Lady of Tongre is a Roman Catholic parish church and Minor basilica in Tongre-Notre-Dame, Chievres, Belgium. The shrine is significantly small, yet rich in historic significance. The shrine is thought for its seated picture of the Madonna and Child, along with its collection of diverse jewels donated via diverse Belgian royalty, as the picture changed into granted a Canonical Coronation through an Apostolic Brief by the Pope Leo XIII on 8 September 1881 achieved by Bishop Isidore Rousseaux.
The photo is not the same as the Our Lady of Tongeren, Virgin of Joy that became Canonically crowned by means of the Rosary Pope in 1890 on the Tongeren Basilica, where the national feasts are extensively held every seven years in all of Belgium. On February 1, 1081, a positive Hector, the neighborhood lord, sees an apparition of the Virgin Mary in his garden. An hour later, there may be nothing left of the picture because the village priest, Tongre, placed it in his church.
