Stolin

Stolin is a town within the Stolin District in Brest Region of Belarus. It is the centre of the most important district in Brest Region. The populace is 10,491 human beings. The Belarusian-Ukrainian border is ready 15 km away, so Stolin is now a border city that hosts many Ukrainians on market days. Russian speech is commonplace right here, however villagers decide upon their dialects which are numerous and akin partially to the Belarusian language, in part the Ukrainian language.

Stolin grew up at the coronary heart of the Polesia region at the Haryn River, on the crossroads of crucial routes, one main northwards to Pinsk, two others eastwards to Davyd-Haradok and Turaŭ, which might be now in Belarus, southwards to Sarny and Kiev, which can be now in Ukraine. Archaeological evidence shows that the place which Stolin now occupies, became settled as some distance back as the twelfth century AD. The first mention of Stolin dates to 1555.
