About Senno
Senno or Syanno is a city inside the Vitebsk Region of Belarus. It is 58 km southwest of Vitebsk at the southern shore of Senno Lake. Its populace in 2010 became 8,000. The village is first mentioned in a report of 1534, although there are symptoms it already existed in the center of the 15th century. Fairs have been held there, and a active hay market gave it its name. From the first half of the seventeenth century it belonged to the Sapieha circle of relatives; from the second one 1/2 of the 18th century, to the OgiĆskis. In 1772 it became a part of the Russian Empire.
The Russian Empire, also referred to as Imperial Russia or virtually Russia, changed into an empire that prolonged throughout Eurasia and North America from 1721, following the give up of the Great Northern War, till the Republic changed into proclaimed by the Provisional Government that took energy after the February Revolution of 1917. In 1924, Senno became part of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. During World War II, it changed into the site of a primary tank war in July 1941.
