About Marc Chagall Museum
The Marc Chagall Museum is a museum devoted to the painter Marc Chagall, positioned at his childhood home in Vitebsk, Belarus. The artist's father built the residence on Pokrovskaia street inside the starting of the 20th century and Marc Chagall spent his adolescence there. Chagall tells about this era of his lifestyles within the autobiography My Life. Inaugurated in 1992, the Museum gathers articles of circle of relatives lifestyles of the boundary of the 19th-twentieth centuries, in addition to copies of archival documents and works by using Chagall regarding the artist's and his own family's existence in Vitebsk.
Created in 1992, the museum organizes expositions of graphic works by Chagall. The museum owns the series of illustrations to Nikolai Gogol's poem "Dead Souls", the collection of coloration lithographs at the theme of the Bible, made in 1956 and 1960, the cycle of color lithographs titled The 12 Tribes of Israel and other Chagall works.
