Hantsavichy is a city within the Brest Region of Belarus, an place of business of the Hantsavichy District. Before World War II, 60% of the populace was Jewish. In the 1920s and 1930s there were 4 synagogues, a Jewish library, an orphanage, a Tarbut school and faculty in Yiddish. Under Polish administration, in 1939, the town was occupied by means of Soviets. The German navy arrived on June 29, 1941. From June 30 to July 1, 1941, a pogrom happened wherein 16 Jews were murdered.
On August 15, 1941, 350 Jewish men had been achieved inside the woodland 11km far from Hantsavichy. 600 Jews have been shot within the city’s market place. During another movement 1,000 Jewish men were taken to the woodland 1km away and shot lifeless. A concentration work camp turned into installed in November 1941.Besides the neighborhood Jews, there were 230 Lenin Jews and one hundred twenty local to Pogost. Small executions of 70 to 150 Jews came about continuously.
