About Meherpur
Meherpur is a district in South-western Bangladesh. Meherpur District has an area of 716.08 squarekm and its one of the smaller district in Bangladesh simply after Narayanganj and Jhalokati. It is bounded by way of Kushtia District and West Bengal of India on the north, Chuadanga District and West Bengal on the south, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts at the east, and West Bengal at the west. Meherpur is a historic district of Bangladesh in which the professional Proclamation of the Provincial authorities of Bangladesh was shaped and solemnly sworned in on the village Baidyanathtola, on 17 April 1971 of this district.
The complete Proclamation rite changed into organized through nearby leaders under the supervision of Momeen Chowdhury and MM Rustom Ali. The first provisional authorities of Bangladesh became formed here under the management of Tajuddin Ahmed & Syed Nazrul Islam. After that day on 18 April 1971, the Pak military killed 8 humans at village Amjhupi. Meherpur become a Sub-Division in Kushtia District and in the year 1983 it turned into d as a District via Ershad Government. The Meherpur Municipality is one of the oldest Municipality in Bangladesh which changed into set up on 1859 whilst Meherpur became part of District Nadia.
