Dhamrai

Dhamrai is an Upazila of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dhamrai Upazila is situated around 40 kilometers north west of the capital city of Dhaka. It is one of the six Upazilas of Dhaka area. The Upazila is encompassed by the Upazilas of Mirzapur and Kaliakair and Nagarpur on the north, Singair on the south, Sa in the east and Saturia on the west. The aggregate zone of Dhamrai Upazila is 307.4 km². It has 57,297 units of family units.

The Upazila comprises of one municipality, 16 associations and 398 villages. Dhamrai Upazila is made out of the alluvium soil of the Bongshi and Dholesshori streams. Different streams are Kolmai and Gazikhali. Dhamrai was once under the Thana of Sa. Dhamrai turned into a Thana itself in 1914 amid the British guideline; that year Dhamrai Hardinge High School was set up. In 1947 it was put under the locale of Dhaka. On December 15, 1984 Dhamrai was redesigned into an undeniable Upazila.
