Shakikhanovs' Palace
About Shakikhanovs' Palace
Shakikhanov's house or Shakikhanov's palace, is a monument of Azerbaijani architecture, placed in the Sheki preserve region. The shape is a combination among the same old vernacular of homes in the area and a palace. A -storied building with a long, square shape is similar to palace buildings, at the same time as the interior decorative elements are extra in the fashion of the indoors of Sheki homes. Each ground includes 3 rooms and small corridors. The rooms on the first ground have winter halls, in which "bukharis" fireplaces are located. The 2nd floor, much like the primary ground, is designed for guests.
In the second ground indoors, the primary floors is a decorative vine. Rectangular boards cover the partitions. Wall painting subjects include Azerbaijani poet Nizami's heroes, "Seven Beauties, Leyli and Majnun" poems and protected with a very unusual stalactite. Two varieties of shelves are used. The ceiling and the cavities of the three partitions pass via the shelves. Small forums are at the shelves.
