About Momine Khatun Mausoleum
The Mausoleum of Momine Khatun is located in Nakhchivan City, the capital of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in Azerbaijan. The mausoleums of Nakhichevan was nominated for List of World Heritage Sites, UNESCO in 1998 by means of Gulnara Mehmandarova president of Azerbaijan Committee of ICOMOS International Council on Monuments and Sites. Momine Khatun Mausoleum, a monument of the Azerbaijani structure monuments of the architectural school of Nakhichevan Maragha was built within the west a part of Nakhchivan city in the Atabek Complex of Architecture in Nakhchivan metropolis’s ancient centre in 1186.
The mausoleum is the only monument that has reached our generation from that complicated. Shamsaddin Eldaniz, the founder of the Azerbaijan Atabaylar state initiated to erect a mausoleum at the grave of his spouse Momine Khatun. However, its construction was completed via Mahammad Jahan Pahlavan, the son of Shamsaddin Eldeniz, in A.H. 582, in the Maharram month April, 1186. According to a few investigators, Shamsaddin Eldaniz, the ruler of the Atabaylar kingdom, his spouse Momine Khatun, and his son Mahammad Jahan Pahlavan had been buried inside the mausoleum.
