St Peter s Abbey

St Peter's Abbey or St Peter's Archabbey is a Benedictine cloister and previous basilica in the Austrian city of Salzburg. It is viewed as one of the most seasoned religious communities in the German-talking zone and in truth the most seasoned with a persistent history since its establishment in 696. St Peter's Abbey was established in 696 by Saint Rupert at the site of a Late Antique church originating from the principal Christianization in the zone in the times of Severinus of Noricum.
