About Schlossberg
The Schlossberg is a tree-clad hill, and the website online of a citadel, inside the centre of the metropolis of Graz, Austria. The hill is now a public park and enjoys big views of the town. It is the web page of numerous amusement venues, cafes and eating places, and is controlled by Holding Graz, the metropolis owned utility employer. The fortification of the Schlossberg goes back to at least the 10th century. In the mid-sixteenth century, a 400 m long fort changed into built via architects from the north of Italy. There are data of a cable-hauled raise being in use between 1528 and 1595 to transport production substances for the fortifications.
The fort become by no means conquered, but it turned into largely demolished through Napoleonic forces beneath the Treaty of Schönbrunn of 1809. The clock tower and bell tower had been spared after the people of Graz paid a ransom for their upkeep. The remains of the castle had been was a public park by Ludwig von Welden in 1839. The park carries the Uhrturm, the Glockenturm, a cistern and two bastions from the antique castle.
