About Piber Federal Stud
The Piber Federal Stud is a stud farm dedicated to the breeding of Lipizzan horses, placed on the village of Piber, close to the city of Koflach in western Styria, Austria. It become based in 1798, started out breeding Lipizzan horses in 1920, and nowadays is the number one breeding farm that produces the stallions utilized by the Spanish Riding School, in which the exceptional stallions of each technology bred at Piber are delivered for education and later public overall performance.
One of Piber’s foremost targets is to uphold a widespread part of Austria’s cultural history and to preserve one of the exceptional and maximum lovely horse breeds in its authentic form. Piber Castle became previously the Abbey of St. Lambrecht. The stud become created 1798 for the reason of breeding army horses. In 1867, it got here beneath the governance of the Austro-Hungarian Imperial Ministry for Agriculture. In 1915, at the beginning of World War I, the Lipizzan horses from the Court Stud at Lipica were evacuated and placed at Laxenburg and Kladrub.
