About Millstatter See

Lake Millstatt is a lake in Carinthia, Austria. It is situated at 588 metres above the Adriatic, north of the Drava Valley within the Gurktal Alps range of the Central Eastern Alps, close to the city of Spittal an der Drau. With a floor region of 13.3 km2 Lake Millstatt is the second one biggest lake of Carinthia, although with a depth of 142 m the most voluminous via a long way. Its steep shore gives the lake a fjord-like person. The slender and lengthy floor stretches over 12 km from east to west.

In the south the wooded Hochgosch plateau, with a breadth of 2 km and an elevation of 876 m, divides the lake from the parallel Drava Valley. The name derives from the market city Millstatt at the northern shore. Other municipalities close to the lake are Seeboden and Radenthein-Dobriach. The shaded southern shore, a blanketed region on account that 1970, is nearly uninhabited.
