About Alpenzoo
Alpenzoo Innsbruck is a zoo located within the city Insbruck, within the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is one of the maximum elevation zoos in Europe. Founded 22 September 1962 by the Austrian zoologist Hans Psenner, Alpenzoo have become famous due to reintroduction of endangered species just like the bearded vulture, Alpine ibex, and northern bald ibis within the wild. The zoo is a non-income affiliation, and the majority of their investment comes from the doorway costs, however the zoo gets extra funds from the town of Innsbruck and the authorities of Tyrol.
There is also financial participation from the society Freunde des Alpenzoo, sponsors and animal adopters. A new timber pavilion become inaugurated in August 2017 to offer data on forestry and the wooden industry. The pavilion was made in collaboration with proHolz Tyrol and the design of the constructing turned into the item of a competition for the students in design and structure of the region. The pavilion is totally made in wood and has the shape of a snail.
