Union Bank

The area of Orange's first bank, the eponymous Union Bank of Australia, the site has a rich and intriguing history, with an enchanting and refined heritage.

The property contains four structures that are each essentially attached to the development and advancement of the town, with first development going back to the mid-1850's. Counting being the premises of Orange's first bank, past inhabitants have likewise incorporated the Commercial Bank, the School of Arts, an early police headquarters and stables, the origination of Kinross-Wolaroi School, the Queen's College, private living arrangements and a lodging.

In the mid 1980's the site was affirmed for insurance by the New South Wales Heritage office, who considered the two story Colonial Building to be of State Significance.

In 1987 the structures were ordered by the National Trust of Australia. Since this time the Union Bank has played host to an assortment of wine bars, eateries and eating outlets, solidifying it's position as a critical and famous piece of Orange's social scene.
