Portland Maritime Discovery Centre

Portland's Maritime Discovery Center was worked in 1998 and houses the Portland Visitor Information Center and an oceanic museum.

The historical center incorporates shows archiving the district's rich sea history including whaling, wrecks, surf lifesaving, protect, route and the neighborhood angling industry.

The centerpiece of the exhibition hall is the 1858 raft Portland, popular for its part in the Admella safeguard of 1859.

The raft is one of the most established outstanding unrestored in place vessels in Australia, potentially the world.

Other questions in the gathering incorporate material from the Port of Portland Collection - photos, specialized instruments, plunging hardware and oceanic apparatuses; and the skeleton of a 14-meter Sperm Whale.
