About Old Farm at Strawberry Hill
The Old Farm, Strawberry Hill By 1836 the settled greenhouses were delivering blood oranges, grapes, raspberries, gooseberries, asparagus, figs and almonds.After a time of disregard it was bought in 1889 by Francis and Augusta Maude Bird who reestablished the house and cultivated the land. The new house was the focal point of the locale's social life.
In 1956 the property was acquired by the Government as a memorable landmark however fell into another cycle of disregard. Exchanged to the National Trust in 1964, the property is being rationed to suitably mirror its importance.
