Desert Mounted Corps Memorial

It is a recast of the principal statue brought at Suez up in 1932. The stone pieces are the firsts from Suez and shot engravings can at introduce be seen on them.The statue is a copy of one at first confining bit of a recognition which was raised at Port Said, Egypt and unveiled on 23 November 1932 by the rt. Hon. William Morris Hughes. It was miserably hurt in the midst of the Suez Crisis in 1956.

The workmanship was saved and passed on to australia for re-erection on this site which, for a few troops who traveled from King George Sound in 1914, was their last take a gander at Australian soil. It was uncovered by rt. Hon. Sir Robert Menzies, Prime Minister of Australia on 11 October 1964.
