About Courthouse
The Albany Courthouse is found in the Albany Courthouse Complex, otherwise called the Albany Justice Complex.
The historical backdrop of the Albany Courthouse is connected intimately with the history and advancement of the town and the State.
Amid the most punctual period of European settlement at King George Sound 1826 - 1831, Albany was a piece of New South Wales, and the primary court served a little reformatory settlement.
The primary court hearings were met in a covered rooftop house which was the commandant's quarters, situated on the edge of a parade ground, which is currently Parade Street. With the takeoff of this convict foundation.
The Captain Collett Barker of H.M. 39th Regiment gave over this house to Dr. Alexander Collie, an inhabitant officer who was delegated to create and design a free settlement that was to end up the start of the City of Albany the way things are today.
