City Center
About City Center
Darwin's downtown area hums with a tropical vacationer vibe. The wide bouleds are home to numerous shops and exhibitions offering everything from didgeridoos to cowhide merchandise and Aboriginal bark sketches. Present day structures are growing up, however a couple of particular points of interest remain. Among them is the Christchurch Cathedral, which was harmed by Japanese besieging amid WWII and wrecked by Cyclone Tracy.
The new octagonal building joins the restricted yard and connecting divider, which survived the tornado. Government House, worked in the vicinity of 1870 and 1878, is a forcing white working in pioneer style, which stands 70 m over the ocean with a fine perspective of the harbor. Government House is so emphatically assembled that even Cyclone Tracy did little harm to the structure.
