About Bendigo Art Gallery

Bendigo Art Gallery in Bendigo, established in 1887, is one of Australia's most seasoned and biggest provincial workmanship exhibitions. The Bendigo Art Gallery has Australia's most extravagant open painting prize, the Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize, worth $50,000, which was propelled in 2003. The display's accumulation was first housed in the previous Bendigo Volunteer Rifle's room, changed over into a show space by Bendigo planner W. C. Valhand in 1890 and renamed Bolton Court.

In 1897 it was reached out with Drury Court, structured by neighborhood planner William Beebe. In 1962 the display was again reached out with office space and extra presentation spaces, and another entrance. From 1998 to 2001 the exhibition was renovated and extended with another model display structured by Fender Katsalidis Architects. The display's accumulation has a solid accentuation on British and European Continental 19th century painting, with works by Ernest Waterlow and Pierre Puvis de Chavannes among others.

Australian work from the 19th century onwards is additionally all around spoke to, including Charles Conder and Arthur Streeton. The display's logo is a picture of Ettore Cadorin's statue Venus tying her shoes 1913. Cadorin was an Italian-conceived American, yet was hitched to an Australian contralto, Erna Mueller, who prepared at the Bendigo Conservatory. He sold the statue to the exhibition subsequent to visiting it in 1913.
