Sevanavank
About Sevanavank
There are two holy places on the promontory of Sevan. These two houses of worship were worked in 874 AD and together frame the Sevanavank Monastery. Sevanavank Monastery is situated in Gegharkunik district, which is well known in Armenia because of its ownership of the blue pearl of Armenians, Lake Sevan.
As per an engraving found in the region, the religious community was worked by Armenian princess Mariam, a little girl of Ashot I, who later turned into the ruler of Armenia and the author of Bagratuni tradition.
Sevanavank is one of the 30 places of worship that Princess Mariam promised to work in the memory of her significant other. Lord Ashot I, in his turn, displayed six towns and gardens in the domain of the present Garni and Yerevan to the religious community.
