About Blue Mosque

The Blue Mosque is an eighteenth-century Shia mosque in Yerevan, Armenia. During the Soviet time, the mosque ceased its administrations and housed the History Museum of Yerevan. Following Armenia's freedom, the mosque was remodeled with the help from the Iranian government and again began going about as a mosque, generally for Iranians living in the nation. It is as of now the main dynamic mosque in Armenia. The Yerevan area had been under the control of different Muslim rulers since the invasions of Timur in the fourteenth century.

From the mid-sixteenth century, and definitively with the 1555 Peace of Amasya, until the course of the nineteenth century, it had irregularly been an area of Iran governed progressively by the Safavids, Nadir Shah, Karim Khan Zand and the Iranian Qajar Dynasty, before it tumbled to neighboring Imperial Russia through the Russo-Persian War of 1826-1828 and the subsequent Treaty of Turkmenchay of 1828. For the mosque's development, different dates from the mid-eighteenth century are refered to in writing.

As announced by nineteenth-century explorer H.F.B. Lynch, the Blue Mosque was dispatched to be worked amid the rule of Iranian ruler Nadir Shah 1736– 47 by Husayn Ali Khan. George Bournoutian names Husayn Ali Khan as the benefactor of the building, however puts his reign in the years 1762-83. According to Vladimir M. Arutyunyan et al. development began in 1760 and was finished under Husayn Ali Khan in 1764-68.
