Amberd
About Amberd
Amberd is a seventh-century fortification discovered 2,300 meters above sea level, on the grades of Mount Aragats at the crossroads of the Arkashen and Amberd streams in the domain of Aragatsotn, Armenia. The complex of Amberd infers its extraordinary chronicled significance from its uniqueness, being truly outstanding and the biggest cases of Armenian post development.
The name signifies "post in the fogs" in Armenian. It is moreover the name erroneously attributed to Vahramashen Church, the eleventh-century Armenian church near the royal residence. The town of Byurakan is 6.4 kilometers from the site of Amberd. Apart from segments of dividers, towers, and the congregation, there are the remains of a bath house and parts of a mystery entry and a water-supply framework that can be seen.
