About La Recoleta Cementery

More than 6,400 statues, sarcophagi, pine boxes and sepulchers remember some of Argentina's most praised children and girls, not slightest Eva Peron, in this overly complex city of the dead.

Once the plantation of the connecting Basílica Nuestra Señora del Pilar - the sparkling white church that disregards the Plaza Francia - the land turned into the city's first open burial ground in 1822.

This is a place which visitors wants to see because here people feel a lot of peace and silence and it was created by the French expert Próspero Catelin, who also sketched out the city's Metropolitan Cathedral in the Plaza de Mayo.

La Recoleta Cementery is a terribly great and serene place ever, with shadowed walkways and rising above marble tombs rich in workmanship deco, craftsmanship, resplendent and neo-gothic basic styles, masonic pictures and extraordinary religious iconography. There is more than 90 of its tombs are recorded as national evident historic points.
