About Coit Tower

Added to the San Francisco horizon in 1933, this grand love letter to the city remains a notorious welcome for voyagers westward over the Bay Bridge. Named for Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a well-off unconventional whose $118,000 inheritance to the city brought about the pinnacle's development, the decreased, fluted tower stands 180 feet tall at the peak of Telegraph Hill.

At the best is the pinnacle's perception deck with 360-degree perspectives of San Francisco and the SF Bay. A rotunda at its base is canvassed in Depression-time WPA wall paintings delineating not really inconspicuous communist pictures in scenes of California horticulture and industry painted by more than two dozen craftsmen, some of whom examined under celebrated internationally Mexican muralist Diego Rivera.
