The town's populace is 715 inside as far as possible and 1,200 inside the library benefit region. Resound is known for its rich history and numerous memorable destinations. J.H. Koontz platted the town in 1880. He named it for his then three year old little girl, Echo.
The Oregon Trail goes through Echo. Exiled people crossed the Umatilla River and stayed outdoors at a site known as the Lower Crossing. Some of the time the exiled people would camp here for a couple of days to revive their creatures, do clothing or exchange before beginning over the dry, dusty forsake toward the west. This campground is presently the site of the Fort Henrietta Park, a National Historic Oregon Trail site. Shows at the recreation center incorporate a secured wagon show, interpretive boards with memorable data on the trail and town history, Oregon Trails signs, antique fire hardware and RV Park and campground.
