1. Indian Railways to Introduce Cashless, Electronic Payment System at Ticket Counters
Indian travelers will now get rid of long queues at the reservation and unreserved ticket counters at railways stations. The Indian Railways is excited to introduce the cashless and electronic payment system. The passengers already have facility of online ticket booking system through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism (IRCTC). Now for those who prefer counter ticket booking will be able to avail the electronic net facility. The Indian railways will now provide passenger reservation system (PRS) where travelers will make use of credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards approved by the Reserve Bank of India for making payment for tickets.
With this new electronic method of payment, train passengers will get facilities like reduced transaction time, easy payment method and rid of long queues. Therefore, train passengers can now enjoy happy journeys to various destinations. This move will also boost the tourism in the country and will open various payment options for customers who do not have ready cash at the time of ticket booking. The use of mobile wallets like Paytm, Freecharge and Oxigen will also provide feasible way to make ticket payments.
