About Burgundy
Burgundy is a historical territory and a former administrative region of France. It takes its name from the Burgundians, an East Germanic folks who moved westwards past the Rhine at some point of the late Roman length. Historically, Burgundy has noted severa political entities, including kingdoms and duchies spanning territory from the Mediterranean to the Low Countries.
Since January 2016, the call Burgundy has mentioned a specific a part of the French administrative location of Bourgogne Franche Comte, an entity comprising four departments: Cote d Or, Saone ET Loire, Yonne, and Nievre. The first recorded populations of the area that have become Burgundy were Celts, who had been subsequently included in the Roman Empire as Gallo Romans.
During the 4th century, the Burgundians, Germanic humans, who may additionally have originated in Bornholm settled within the western Alps. They founded the Kingdom of the Burgundians, which become conquered in the 6th century by using every other Germanic tribe, the Franks. Later, the place becomes divided among the Duchy of Burgundy to the west and the Free County of Burgundy to the east.
